COURSE SYLLABUSES


The aim of the courses is to develop the skills described in the self-assessment grid of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, particularly written and oral comprehension and the relative language structures.

Level A2
The specific language structures studied in the course are:

Masculine nouns in –a, feminine nouns in –o and –tà, -tù, irregular plurals
Partitive article (del pane, della frutta)
Comparative of majority for nouns and pronouns, superlative
Use of present perfect (passato prossimo) and imperfect tenses to recount past events
Use of present conditional to make polite requests and express wishes
Locative ci
Indefinite adjectives and pronouns (molto, poco, ogni, qualche)
Agreement of past participle with direct pronouns
Indirect pronouns
Relative pronoun che
Use of simple and articulated (i.e. combined with article, alla, della etc.) prepositions of cause, place, time
Adverbs of place, time, manner
Conjunctions (che, mentre, però, se)

 

Level B1

The specific language structures studied in the course are:

Masculine nouns in –co, -go, nouns with a single form (il/la pianista)
Nouns with irregular plural
Degrees of adjectives and adverbs
Use of the polite imperfect
Further study of use of present conditional tense
Use of past perfect tense
Use of imperative
Use of present and imperfect subjunctive in sentences expressing opinion, doubt, hope
Conditional sentences (se posso, ti chiamo; se avessi tempo, ci andrei)
Use of impersonal si with simple tenses.
Relative pronouns
Combined pronouns (me lo, te lo…..)
Use of simple and articulated prepositions in the main functions
Indefinite adjectives and pronouns (qualcuno, qualcosa, ognuno, ciascuno, alcuni)
Uses of altro
Conjunctions (dunque, perciò, quindi, né, neanche, cioè, infatti, appena, dopo che, anche se)

Level B2

The specific language structures studied in the course are:

Feminine nouns in –cia, -gia; specialisation of meanings of noun (il tavolo/la tavola)
Compound qualifying adjectives and formation of plural
Use of verbs with double auxiliary (essere and avere)
Use of simple past (passato remoto)
Use of past and past perfect subjunctive
Use of past conditional
Conditional sentencesUse of indefinite verbal modes (infinite, gerund, participle)
Passive form
Use of subject personal pronouns (egli, essa, essi, esse)
Use of ci and ne
Use of conjunctions of cause, time, result, concession, condition, manner

The teacher may modify the syllabus according to specific class needs.

 

Level C1

The specific language structures studied in the course are:

Nouns in –ista, -cida, -iatra; io and
Nominalisation
Qualifying adjectives which change meaning according to their position
Compound adjectives (italo-francese)
Further study of use of modes and tenses (indicative, conditional, subjunctive)
Further study of indefinite modes of verbs (infinite, gerund, participle)
Further study of passive form
Use of passive si in compound tenses, of impersonal si with pronominal verbs (?)
Further study of uses of ci and ne
Demonstrative adjectives and pronouns (ciò, tale, stesso….)
Further study of use of indefinite adjectives and pronouns
Revision of functions of prepositions
Adverbial phrases/collocations (faccia a faccia, in fretta e furia, di corsa)
Revision of subordinating conjunctions
Connectives and discourse markers
