DESCRIPTION OF COURSES
The
CLA organises two types of course: Praxis courses
Specialsupplementary courses.
The
levels of the courses, which are matched with
the Common European Common Reference Framework
for Languages, are A2, B1, B2, C1.
Praxis Courses
The Praxis courses concentrate on developing the oral and written skills of comprehension,
interaction and production, with particular attention to oral and written
comprehension. They consist of 30 hours of lessons. In the academic year 2009/10 Praxis courses will be offered
at levels A2, B1 and B2. Access to these courses, for which priority is given
to LLP/Erasmus students, will be restricted to the number of places available.
Special
supplementary courses
The aim of the Special courses is to develop single skills and/or achieve specific
goals. They consist of 30 hours of lessons. Specially-created materials and handouts will be provided.
Listening/reading
For foreign students wishing to develop their reading and listening skills for
academic purposes and/or wishing to prepare for the Certificate of Proficiency
in the Italian language. The module is taught at two levels:
Listening/Reading 1:
to attend this course you must know the contents
of Levels A2 and B1.
Listening/Reading 2:
to attend this course you
must know the contents of Levels B1 and B2.
Grammar
revision
For students wishing to reinforce their grammar knowledge. The module is taught
at two levels:
- Grammar revision 1: the points which are revised and more extensively
studied are those of levels A2 and B1.
- Grammar revision 2: the points which
are revised and more extensively studied are those of levels B2 and C1.
Thema (B2)
The aim of this course is to perfect advanced communication skills, e.g. arguing a point, describing, narrating, developing strategic language (suggesting, convincing, ordering, refusing etc.), using culturally meaningful material on specific themes, so that it becomes an opportunity for students to improve both the linguistic and the cultural aspects of their knowledge.
E-Learning
(B2/C1)
This mixed-format course (class and online lessons) is divided into 15 hours of class lessons and 60 hours of online activity.
